What version of Windows CE do you use on your TeleCLIENT?

Currently we are shipping WinCE.net 4.2 on all our TeleCLIENT TC7xxx series thin clients. We are planning to launch a Windows CE 5.0 version on our TeleCLIENT product line Q2/Q3 2004.

Do you have any management software for your TeleCLIENT thin clients?

Yes, TeleManager Management Software is available royalty free. You can download it from our website, in the product section. We have also partnered with Altiris to provide a full-featured XPe management software. You can download a free evaluation copy at www.altiris.com.

What drivers are included in your TeleCLIENT TC7xxx WinCE.net series?

We include a number of device drivers such as USB mouse, USB keyboard, barcode scanners, USB floppy drive, universal USB printer driver and others. If there is a specific driver you require and it is not installed on your TeleCLIENT TC7xxx thin client, please contact technical support. Note, TeleCLIENT TC8xxx XPe thin clients support all XP device drivers. TeleCLIENT TC7xxx WinCE.net thin clients have limited driver support due to limited availability of drivers for Windows CE.

Can I install my own device drivers?

You can install any XP drivers on our TeleCLIENT TC8xxx XPe thin clients as long as there is enough memory. However, installing drivers on our TeleCLIENT TC7xxx WinCE.net thin clients are very difficult and also very hard to find. All local drivers must be installed by TeleVideo due to the fact the Windows CE.net operating system is developed in a Microsoft Platform Builder and Visual Studio environmentDevice drivers for WinCE are very difficult.

What type of flash do you use on your TeleCLIENT thin clients and is it upgradeable?

We do not use a hard drive in any of our TeleCLIENT thin clients. We use a combination of Flash memory in three different packaging types, Compact Flash, DiskOnChip and DiskOnModule. DiskOnModule and DiskOnChip are similar that they do not have any moving parts, small form factor and uses less power. Local flash memory is only upgradeable by TeleVideo factory. If the TeleCLIENT is opened to re-configure the memory the warranty is voided.

What external devices do you support for your TeleCLIENT WinCE.net thin clients?

We support USB external floppy, USB flash drive, USB mouse and keyboard, several USB printers, USB Schlumberger smart card reader, USB Identix Biometric fingerprint reader and several other devices. To see the entire list of peripherals for TeleCLIENT TC7xxx WinCE.net thin clients, please visit our products page.

Can you upgrade the firmware on a TeleCLIENT?

Yes, you can upgrade all the TeleCLIENT thin client firmware and OS. You can upgrade the TeleCLIENT TC7xxx CE.net thin clients via our TeleManager Management Software or you can pull via FTP from your TeleCLIENT. You can view the latest fixes at our support page or contact technical support. TeleCLIENT XPe thin clients can be upgraded with the latest security patches and QFEs (quick engineering fixes) by visiting our support page or contacting technical support.

Do you support wireless PCMCIA or PCI LAN card?

We only support an internal wireless LAN via miniPCI. MiniPCI is a different connector compared to PCI or PCMCIA and they are not interchangeable.

Do you support Cisco wireless LAN? LEAP? WPA? PEAP? 802.11g?

We support Cisco miniPCI MPI350 Aeronet 802.11b wireless cards on our TeleCLIENT TC8xxx XPe thin clients only. We also support Cisco PCMCIA Aeronet 802.11b wireless card on our MC3000 webpads. All TeleCLIENT TC7xxx WinCE.net thin clients do not support Cisco due to the fact Cisco does not have any device drivers for WinCE.net for miniPCI type cards. We support LEAP and PEAP if a Cisco card can be installed into our TeleCLIENT per above, however PEAP is only supported on our TeleCLIENT TC8xxx XPe thin clients. We also support WPA and 802.11g on our TeleCLIENT TC8xxx XPe thin clients only.

How do I reset the TeleCLIENT TC7xxx WinCE.net thin clients to default if I forget the password or the firmware is corrupted?

There are several methods to recover a password. You can use the registry via logging in as the administrator, resetting the TeleCLIENT to factory default via pressing CTRL + ALT + R or by checking “Restore to factory default” in the Terminal Properties section under General Tab.
