Televideo Teleclients And Albemarle Hospital Improve Patient Care
San Jose, CA January 5, 2004 TeleVideo, Inc. (OTC BB: TELV) a pioneer in thin client computing has been a technology leader in the healthcare industry for over 20 years. The latest success for TeleVideo TeleCLIENT thin client products has been the story of the distinguished Albemarle Hospital.
Albemarle Hospital located in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, selected TeleVideo TeleCLIENT thin clients and webpads to replace traditional PC workstations. They migrated a mixture of Windows 95, 98 and 2000 PCs to the TeleCLIENTs while updating their infrastructure to a client/server model. Ed Ricks, Director of Information Services for Albemarle Hospital, said Being recognized as one of the nation's Most Wired Small and Rural hospitals actually put Albemarle Hospital in an exclusive group of hospitals nationwide; only 25 facilities were recognized in the small and rural hospital category.
Using TeleCLIENT thin clients as a key component of their technology achievements, Albemarle Hospital received their accolades based on the 2003 Most Wired Survey and Benchmarking Study, released today by Hospitals & Health Networks magazine. Hospitals & Health Networks conducted the survey, in cooperation with McKesson Corporation and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS). It measures the nation's hospitals on their use of Internet technologies for safety and quality, customer service, disaster readiness, business processes, and workforce issues . We chose the TeleVideo's TeleCLIENT and webpad thin clients and TeleMANAGER Management Software to achieve strategic IT goals. In addition to improving the quality of care we deliver, we lowered our total cost of ownership, can better insure patient confidentiality and are positioned to address our future technology requirements. TeleVideo has been a valued partner and continues to keep us on the leading edge of technology. We have achieved our goals of enhancing patient safety and quality of care at the point of service through the use of wireless computing with both the TeleCLIENTs and webpad thin clients, said Ricks.
"The healthcare market has been a key vertical segment of TeleVideo's throughout our company history. We are honored to partner ourselves with a distinguished healthcare provider in Albemarle Hospital, who has recognized the benefits of our TeleCLIENT thin client products to provide better patient care", said Dr. K. Hwang, Chairman, President and CEO.
TeleVideo will also be displaying the entire family of TeleCLIENT thin clients at the Citrix Solutions Summit in Orlando, Florida on January 12 through January 14 at booth #19.
