TELEVIDEO INTRODUCES POWERFUL NEW WINDOWS ® -BASED TERMINAL

Network Computing Pioneer Delivers TeleCLIENT™ TC7000 to Maximize the Benefits of Thin-Client Computing Environments

March 18, 1999 - TeleVideo, Inc. (NASDAQ: TELV ), pioneers in network computing, announced the TeleCLIENT TC7000. It is the fastest, most powerful, cost-effective Windows®-based thin client solution for healthcare, government, retail and other task-oriented client/server based network computing environments. The TC7000 is a "Powered by Microsoft Windows® CE" Windows-based terminal which enables easy access to business critical applications.

The TC7000 lowers the total cost of ownership (TCO) by centralizing administration, configuration and distribution of application software. The TeleCLIENT TC7000 has no local storage device therefore more secure than PCs. Eliminating local storage device enables system administrators to keep all confidential and business critical files and data on the server, preserving data security and integrity.

"TeleCLIENT TC7000 is a dream machine for any enterprise wishing to make their network computing more cost-effective and secure," said Dr. Philip Hwang, Chairman and CEO of TeleVideo, Inc. "TeleVideo assessed the market for Windows-based terminals and realized the substantial market need. TeleVideo is well positioned to deliver the solutions that support today's network computing initiatives."

"With the TeleCLIENT family of Windows-based terminals, TeleVideo is giving enterprises the power and tools to lower the cost of doing business," said Kevin Yang, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at TeleVideo, Inc. "By minimizing the administration and maintenance costs associated with the network, companies can focus on building their business and providing higher-quality services to their clients." TeleCLIENT TC7000 is the fastest "Powered by Microsoft Windows CE" Window-based terminal on the market. It features the powerful 233MHz, upgradeable to 300 MHz, Media GXm processor from CyrixÒ. In head-to-head tests, the TeleCLIENT 7000 has outperformed models from TeleVideo's top three competitors.

The TC7000 empowers users to access and manage Windows NT-based business-critical transaction processing, point-of sale (POS), help and reservations desk applications - all within the familiar Microsoft Windows environment. In addition, users may access the Internet to perform more extensive business-to-business services and run multiple sessions to utilize Windows and traditional legacy applications.

The Microsoft Windows CE operating system also allows the TC7000 to run any Windows-compatible software applications, including the Microsoft Office Suite. The Microsoft CE Operating System and TeleCLIENT network set-up wizard are embedded on an 8MB local flash disk. The flash disk is upgradeable and re-programmable either locally or remotely via Ethernet download. System administrators may choose the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) that executes along Microsoft NTâ Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition or the Citrixâ Independent Computing Architecture (ICAâ) protocol through Citrix MetaFrameä or WinFrameâ server operating systems to best fit their needs.

The TC7000's innovative, functional and modular design provides an ideal migration path for character-based terminals and PCs. The small footprint of TC7000 is perfect for limited workspaces and connects to specific monitor needs. -more- The TeleCLIENT TC7000 will be available April 1 worldwide through resellers and systems integrators. Suggested list pricing for the 233MHz version of the TC7000 is $599.00.
