TELEVIDEO INTRODUCES THE FIRST FULLY-INTEGRATED TFT LCD THIN CLIENT WINDOWS BASED TERMINALS

The TeleCLIENT TC7300 Series Comes in a Sleek All-in-One Design With a High Resolution LCD and a Petite Footprint

LAS VEGAS—(November 15, 1999) —Thin-client computing just got thinner with the announcement today by TeleVideo, Inc. (OTC BB: TELV), introducing the first fully-integrated Windows-based thin client with a built-in high-resolution TFT LCD screen.

TeleVideo's new TeleCLIENT TC7340 and TC7350 models feature all-in-one thin-client units that integrate powerful, high-performance computing with 14.1-inch and 15-inch TFT LCD screens. The sleek modular design of the TC7300 series offers the smallest footprint available in the thin client market today.

“The TeleCLIENT TC7340 and TC7350 continue the TeleCLIENT series' of powerful all-in-one thin-client solutions for the Windows NT and Legacy enterprise community, with the important distinction of providing a high-resolution alternative to space-hogging CRT thin -clients ,” said Steph Rutel, Director of Marketing for TeleVideo, Inc.

“The high-performance TFT LCD screens used in the TC7340 and TC7350 models require less energy and deliver higher clarity and greater viewing area than CRTs,” Rutel added. “These models are the perfect choice for the financial, healthcare, government and other environments where desktop space is at a premium. With optional touchscreen capabilities, the TC7340 and TC7350 are ideal for all kiosk, reservation desk and point-of-sale operations.”

Optimized for the Enterprise Environment

TeleCLIENT TC7340 and TC7350 bring rapid deployment of Windows and legacy applications seamlessly to the desktop while requiring no local storage space. Using an out-of-the-box installation-ready configuration, the TeleCLIENT TC7300 series features a small rectangular footprint (10.8 inches by 8.9 inches) equipped with built-in I/O ports for keyboard, mouse, printer , microphone and speakers. In addition, there are two serial ports, two USB ports and a 10/100 B aseT Ethernet port, as well as touchscreen drivers included to provide an optional touchscreen feature for applications (including kiosks and POS) where simplified, easy-to-use keystroke sequences are required.

Every TeleCLIENT TC7340 and TC7350 thin-client ships with 16MB RAM, keyboard and mouse. Integrated into the space-saving TFT LCD unit is a powerful 233MHz Media GXm™ processor from National Semiconductor®, making the TeleCLIENT TC7300 series the fastest Windows-based TFT LCD thin client on the market today.

The Microsoft Windows CE Operating System and TeleCLIENT Terminal Emulations are embedded on an 8MB local flash disk, which is upgradeable and re-programmable either locally or remotely via Ethernet download.

Multiple protocol support for the TeleCLIENT gives system administrators the freedom to choose Microsoft's Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) that executes along Microsoft's Windows 2000 Terminal Services or Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Server Edition, or Citrix's Independent Computing Architecture (ICA) that communicates with Citrix's MetaFrame or WinFrame server operating systems. TeleCLIENT Terminal Emulations include TeleVideo (TVI), DEC, IBM and others, allowing legacy users to access all Windows NT files and applications using the familiar Windows graphical user interface.

“In the tradition of TeleVideo thin-client products, the TC7340 and TC7350 are carefully designed to reduce the overall total cost of ownership (TCO) in server-based computing environments,” Rutel said.

TeleCLIENT TC7340 and TC7350 are showcased at COMDEX and will be available December 1 st worldwide through resellers and systems integrators. Suggested list pricing for the TC7340 (14.1-inch TFT LCD) is $1899. Suggested list pricing for the TC7350 (15-inch TFT LCD) is $2199.
